Horsehair or smoked raku

Raku has developed over many years from an ancient Japanese technique related to the sacred tea ceremony. This type is unglazed but smoked and/or decorated with combustibles such as horsehair, human hair, feathers etc. It is then polished with a fine wax polished to finish and protect the piece.
